Nativity Scenes. Post-competition exhibition.

08.02.2010, 10:04
In February you will have the last chance to see a presentation of the most interesting and impressive Krakow Nativity scenes, selected from among those entered in this year's sixty-seventh edition of the Nativity Scenes Contest. These colorful pieces of art of its own kind won’t leave you indifferent.

Preparation of Nativity scenes is a Cracovian custom which is cultivated since 1937, when the first competition for the most beautiful Cracow crèche was organized. The typical Nativity scenes are inspired by the city’s architecture and local traditions. Very often the characters from legends – including Queen Wanda, Wawel Dragon and Lajkonik – are presented in them. The size of these small miracles ranges from a few centimeters to several meters.
