UNIVERSITY HALLS OF RESIDENCE
Universities offer a limited number of places in dormitories, which in case of overwhelming demand will be assigned randomly. To reserve a place in the hall of residence, students are asked to fill in a housing application form. Prices of dormitory rooms range between 240 - 350 PLN per month depending on the building. This is compared to the normal price of 700 PLN for student housing in the city, depending on the amenities. The dorm price usually includes natural heating, water, gas in the kitchen, and often internet. There are no single rooms available. Universities provide accommodation as well as spaces for cultural and sport activities for the students. Apart from Dormitories there are students' clubs, football pitches, billiards clubs, tennis courts, swimming pools fitness clubs, kindergartens, post offices and banks. During the academic year, the location of the ‘campuses’ is appreciated very much by students of all Cracow.
PRIVATE HOUSING
The second option is to get a flat. The People at the International Programs Offices will help you and your international friends to find something that suites you. Renting a flat together with other students offers, in most cases, higher standards at prices not much more expensive than a place in a student dormitory. Cost for renting a room or a flat depends on its location and facilities. You can get almost everything from very simple "old East-European standard" to an “exclusive mansion". This is of course a little bit more expensive than the student house option and will cost you from 400 Zloty to 1100 zloty per month. Be aware that landlords usually ask for the deposit and that you will be required to pay for additional amenities (gas, electricity, etc.). Students are advised to sign agreements with landlords by signing the written agreement outlining the terms of the rental agreement.
