The educational offer of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow consists of degree - (Bachelor, Master and Doctoral) and non degree (Postgraduate Studies, student and postgraduate artistic internships as well as Open Studies) courses in the areas of art, design and conservation (a detailed description of the admission requirements has been published in our Admission's Guide). Founded in 1818, our institution is the oldest artistic university in Poland and plays a major role in Polish and international artistic life. It develops its structure and curricula continually offering new learning opportunities to overseas students.

Our educational philosophy is based on our long experience and it adapts to the needs of the student in the modern world. The methods of teaching are student-oriented and include artistic/design tasks which require developing comprehensive skills of the student in terms of intellectual, emotional and practical abilities. Artistic experience is transferred through long-term practice in Master studios which ensures good rapport between Professors and their disciples, at the same time allowing students to enrich their artistic awareness and acquire the necessary skills for their independent and responsible artistic/design activity.

In fact, the flexibility of curricula has become a significant feature of our philosophy of education which enables the student to focus on his/her individual artistic development and to obtain general competences as a prospective artist/designer.

Krakow’s Universities offer several Master Programmes in International Relations, Humanities and Social Sciences, both alone and working with other European universities. These programmes are taught by leading regional specialists with an excellent student/teacher ratio and a commitment to support individual research interests. For instance, international students can choose tracks related to the European Union development and its integration with Central and Eastern European countries. The programmes have been designed to provide an advanced understanding of the EU to those wishing to deepen their knowledge and to prepare for a career in European affairs. The Interdisciplinary Programme in Humanities and Social Sciences has been focused on the most significant issues in the humanities of the 20th century (philosophy, anthropology, history, literary theories, history of art, psychology). Some of the courses are of more general character ( e.g. philosophy) and some are related to Poland (e.g. history). The main emphasis is put on modern and interdisciplinary character of 20th century cultural phenomena. This approach allows students to see the most basic and disputable aspects of the human studies from a global perspective. Other programmes incorporate advanced research training in the methodologies and approaches of economics, business, politics, international relations, sociology, history and cultural studies.

The School of Medicine in English is a structural unit of the Faculty of Medicine at the Jagiellonian University Medical College. First students were admitted in October 1994. In the academic year 2008/2009 there are nearly 500 students from five continents and over twenty countries. Majority of students come from Norway, USA and Canada.
The School offers two programs of medicine that are taught exclusively in English: 4-year program for graduates of pre-medical college/university programs in the USA/Canada and 6-year program for graduates of secondary schools. Graduates of these programs receive a diploma of the Jagiellonian University, Faculty of Medicine conferring Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
MD program for college/university students complies with the North American standards. First two years comprise mainly of pre-clinical courses. On their completion students may take Step 1 of the United States Medical License Examination (USMLE). Clinical courses are taught on the third and fourth year. Some courses may be taken at student home country as a part of clinical rotations. After third year students may take Step 2 of the USMLE or Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Examination (MCCEE) to apply for residency programs in the United States or Canada.
MD program for High School graduates stands in compliance with European teaching standards. A candidate for this program should be a graduate from secondary school and excel in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. The first part of the curriculum covers basic science and pre-clinical courses. The second part of curriculum covers clinical courses in many medical specialties.
Jagiellonian University Medical College programs in English are in compliance with: Polish, European Union, US Department of Education (Stafford Loan Program), Medical Board of California teaching standards.
Our graduates of both programs do their residencies and postgraduate trainings in university teaching hospitals in many countries: USA, Canada, Australia, England, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Poland. Also our graduates’ specializations are of different disciplines: Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Surgery, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Neurology, Pediatrics, Cardiology, Anesthesiology, Orthopedics, Immunology, Pathology.

The beginnings of organised education of teachers go back to the second half of the 19th century. It was at that time that the first teacher training schools were created in Krakow, separately for men and women. In the1930s, an interwar years period, Henryk Rowid’s Pedagogium took on the responsibility of educating teachers.

In 1946 Pedagogical High School in Krakow was established and after undergoing many transformations it now stands as the Pedagogical University of Krakow. Approximately 20.000 full-time and extramural students follow a three-level study system at five faculties. The University also offers a postgraduate programme. For many years the University has been the best school in the field of education in Poland successfully fulfilling its educational objectives.

Food processing, preservation and conservation technologies, creating healthy or special foods, are rapidly expanding and increasingly important disciplines with vast future potential. In view of the ever increasing human mobility, food safety and quality are of key importance, so experts who will develop new methods of their assessment and assurance will always be required. Monitoring, protection and proper utilisation of forests, which play a key role in the environment are also fields of utmost importance for the environment, especially in view of climatic changes.
